Port Isabel, TX - February 15, 2024 - The Port Isabel Early College High School Boys Basketball team has etched their names in the annals of Rio Grande Valley sports history with an extraordinary achievement. The Port Isabel Tarpons, reigning back-to-back District 32-4A champions, have attained the longest winning streak in the region, marking a remarkable milestone for the school and the community.
 
With an impeccable record of 27 wins and only 6 losses, including a perfect 14-0 in district play, the Tarpons have surged to an astounding 21 consecutive victories. Their dominance culminated in a resounding 90-56 triumph over Brownsville Jubilee on Monday, securing an undefeated district title.
 
"This achievement is a testament to the relentless dedication and unwavering commitment of our players, coaches, and the entire Port Isabel community," remarked Coach Gilbert Rodriguez. "Their hard work, perseverance, and teamwork have propelled us to this historic moment."
 
The Tarpons' success is further highlighted by their back-to-back conquests of the District 32-4A title, a feat not accomplished in a decade. Led by a roster of talented individuals, including seniors Aiden Sanchez, Jeffrey Smith, Shaun Moore, Kevin Morales, and Michael Bryant, alongside juniors Cleveland Smith, Christian Smith, and Bryan Martinez, the team has showcased exceptional skill, determination, and camaraderie throughout the season.
